Back to St Augustine
Today we set off for St Augustine with Larry and Dorie. We are staying in a B&B in the old town run by Julian and Sandy - sorry, Brian and Emory, both very friendly and informative guys who used to live in Texas.
We've had a walk around and visited the castle which the Spanish built to keep British pirates out in the 17th century.
Here’s a sign C had to take a photo of!
And here's a truck D insisted C photograph.
We visited a craft distillery for free tastings of cocktails with their products: bourbon, rum, vodka and gin.
C loved the clock in the breakfast room. The flag reads-'When pigs fly'. Breakfast seems to be either sweet or savoury, and it was savoury that morning, so we had a small salad to start, followed by 'biscuits and gravy'. Biscuits are like scones without sugar, and gravy is a white sauce with peppery sausage bits in it. Very southern. Then for our third course we had peach granita. Certainly a more different breakfast than we’ve had before, but enjoyable nevertheless.

The talk was interesting, and the tasting opportunities were fun even if C and D didn’t like all of them!
Dinner that night was a short walk from the B&B, and the waitress kindly photographed the event for us.
The following day we went to the Lightner Museum and listened to a talk about antique mechanical musical instruments. We also went to see the restaurant in the museum which is actually in the swimming pool!
In the afternoon on Day two we had a tour of the Whetstone Chocolate Company while it was raining outside which it did most of the afternoon and evening. The tour was fascinating and, of course, included trying samples of their chocolates.
We were required to wear hair nets, and men with beards had to wear 'beard nets' as well. But moustaches were ok it seems. C managed to photo David before he removed his hairnet. Larry, behind him was quicker!
